On Tuesday night, the NBA announced the draft lottery for the upcoming NBA draft.
The New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns and Cleveland Cavaliers held the best odds to land the No. 1 pick entering Tuesday night. However, only the Knicks landed inside the top-three, while the Suns and Cavaliers slid during the draft announcement.
After all was said and done, the New Orleans Pelicans took home the No. 1 pick, with Memphis at No. 2 and New York at No. 3.
The Knicks presumably missed out on Duke star Zion Williamson and star point guard Ja Morant of Murray State – who are presumed to go No. 1 and No. 2.
Fans of the Knicks who entered Tuesday with dreams of Zion saw those dreams fade.
Here’s just one of the multitude of sad Knicks fans after finding out the team landed the No. 3 pick in the draft.

Clearly Knicks fans thought they were in position to land Zion Williamson and start a new era of basketball in New York.
In the end, the Pelicans take home the No. 1 pick and a renewed lease on the upcoming season.
Pelicans star Anthony Davis asked the team for a trade during the 2018-19 season, but he might want to re-think that request after the lottery.
