After being chosen first overall in this year’s NBA Draft, Zion Williamson’s Summer League debut was over after only nine minutes due to a knee issue.
Williamson suffered a bone bruise, and the New Orleans Pelicans were wisely cautious with their prized investment. They don’t want to risk Williamson injuring himself more.
While there is certainly a major difference between a annual rookie photo shoot and actual on-court action, Williamson looked pretty healthy at today’s promotional appearance.
As you can see in the NBA video below, Zion got up for the dunk with little problem.

This is a good sign fro the Pelicans. You can be sure they will continue to be smart about Williamson’s workload as he begins his first NBA training camp this fall.
There was also concern from some about Williamson’s physical conditioning this summer, but as he gets into camp and begins playing more basketball, we expect those worries will dissipate some.
We will find out soon when Williamson will make his NBA debut. The league is set to announce its 2019-20 schedule this week.
