We have some conference realignment news! A college basketball mid-major program is joining a new conference.

According to multiple reports, Liberty is leaving the Big South conference. It will be joining the ASUN.

The Flames will be joining the conference for all sports except football, field hockey, and swimming & diving.

Here's more, from Mid-Major Madness:

The move will be made official at a press conference Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. It will stream on ESPN3.

Liberty replaces USC Upstate, which will leave the ASUN to join the Big South. With North Alabama transitioning to Division I and joining the ASUN, the conference will have nine members for men’s basketball moving forward.

The Big South, meanwhile, will welcome the Spartans and Hampton to bring their total to 11 men’s basketball schools.

Liberty is a potential NCAA Tournament team in 2018-19. The squad went 22-15 last season and returns most of its key players.
