A look at my journey from the Lone Star State to the Buckeye State.

At Ohio State, everyone has a story to tell. People come from all over the world and from all walks of life to attend this amazing school. In fact, fellow College Spun editor Ricky Darling gave his take a few weeks ago on what it meant for him to be a Buckeye, coming from Southern California. This is my own story.

I didn't grow up an Ohio State fan. Being from El Paso, Texas, the majority of the people there were either UTEP Miners fans or Texas Longhorns fans. And yes, there were a decent amount of Texas Tech and Texas A&M fans as well. Fun fact: I didn't even consider attending Ohio State until my senior year of high school. So why did I decide to come all the way from the Southwest, the Borderland, to a place like Columbus, Ohio? I came and visited in November of my senior year and during that visit, something clicked. I was blown away by the size of the campus and the opportunities that the school provided both academically and socially. And it was at that visit when I first learned about just how big Ohio State football was. The people, the tradition, the excellence. That has been the motto for Ohio State athletics for as long as I can remember. And looking back now, a little more than two years later, I can definitively say that my decision to attend The Ohio State University was one of the best of my life.

My first Ohio State football game was the Miami game in 2010. From the very moment I walked into the stadium to find my seat, I was hooked. The passion that "Buckeye Nation" has is unrivaled anywhere else. I caught it, considering I now have more Ohio State T-shirts than anything else in my closet. In my eyes, Ohio State football brings people together, from places you would least expect it, all in support of the Scarlet and Gray. I've always been a diehard football fan, but when you see 105,000 screaming fans in The Horseshoe for every Saturday home game, you know you're at a special place.

Ohio State and the city of Columbus have become a second home for me. I have made some wonderful friends and have had the chance to meet and interact with some amazing people. Buckeye football has become a symbol of where my college journey started and it is something that will continue to be a part of my life long after I leave campus.
