A Spectator At The U.S. Open Has Reportedly Passed Away

A spectator at the U.S. Open has passed away.

Friday afternoon, the USGA announced that a spectator in attendance at this year's U.S. Open at Erin Hills had passed away. The name of the individual has not been released.

The USGA issued a statement on the matter.

The statement:

"The USGA was saddened to learn that a spectator at Erin Hills passed away a short time ago. Out of respect for the family, we are unable to provide additional information at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with those surrounding this individual during this difficult time."

According to FOX 6 News, it was an elderly spectator who passed away. There is no cause of death reported at this time.
