Appalachian State's first-ever appearance in the AP Top 25 looks like it will be a short one. They are in the process of getting smoked.

Midway through the fourth quarter, App State trails Georgia Southern 27-7. A loss would knock the No. 25 Mountaineers out of the rankings.

Now, this isn't a crazy result by any means. Georgia Southern is 6-1 and in the hunt for the Sun Belt title. In fact, we put App State on "Upset Alert" earlier today.

However, the way App State is getting beat is noteworthy. Not only are they down three scores, but their starting quarterback was injured in the first quarter.

Zac Thomas took a big hit early in the game and didn't return.

A loss tonight is bad enough, but losing Thomas long-term would be a massive blow.
