Tiger Woods was arrested overnight and is being charged with driving under the influence in the state of Florida.
Pro golfer Tiger Woods was arrested early Monday morning after police in Jupiter, Florida reportedly witnessed him driving "all over the road." Woods will be charged with driving under the influence in the state of Florida.
TMZ is reporting that despite the situation, law enforcement is telling them that Woods acted "arrogant" during the arrest. He also reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test.
TMZ's last two updates are eye-opening. Check them out:
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... cops spotted Woods "driving erratically, all over the road" when they pulled him over. We're told the officer smelled alcohol on Woods' breath and at that point Woods became "arrogant." We're told the officer asked him to blow into a breathalyzer but he refused. In Florida that means automatic arrest and license suspension.
We've learned Tiger's girlfriend, Kristin Smith, learned about the arrest while shopping at a Neiman Marcus store in Dallas. Someone called her and, according to several eyewitnesses, "she went crazy" and said "I knew it, I knew it." We're told she began crying, then bought $5k worth of merchandise and left.
Woods, a 14-time major winner who is widely considered to be one of the most dominant golfers to ever play the game, has had quite the fall from grace since a 2009 incident led to his admission of infidelity. Let's hope he turns it around soon.
Update: Official police reports suggest that Woods was actually asleep at the wheel, pulled off to the side of the road. He also reportedly took two breathalyzer tests, blowing .000 each time.
