Alabama fans are understandably a passionate bunch - especially around Auburn alums. But some Tigers supporters are a bit upset with one Crimson Tide supporter this week for, well, let's just say time and place.
Cam Newton, who helped win Auburn its most recent national title, was doing an awesome thing after Carolina Panthers practice - giving out some of his gear to disabled children.
The NFL tweeted out a video of the scene. If you turn the audio on, around the 12-second mark, you'll hear a woman yell "Roll Tide!" at Newton. Newton either doesn't hear it or doesn't react.
Auburn fans, though, heard it. Many online are being critical of the woman bringing college football rivalry into that kind of situation.
No, this isn't a huge deal. But there should be lines - and in theory, during the time an NFL quarterback is handing out gear to disabled children, you probably shouldn't bring up college football's nastiest rivalry.
As for the rivalry itself - last year was a weird one. Auburn knocked off Alabama, but lost in the SEC title game to Georgia. Alabama then snuck in the College Football Playoff and won it all by defeating Georgia in the national title game.
So Auburn won the Iron Bowl last year, but Alabama won the national title. We're not sure how that all works out in the state.
