Lionel Messi is on the board finally. The Argentina star has scored his first goal of the 2018 World Cup.
Messi delivered his sixth career World Cup goal in the 15th minute against Nigeria this afternoon. It was his first World Cup goal in over 600 minutes of action, dating back to when he scored against Nigeria in the 2014 World Cup.
Considering Argentina needs a win here to have a shot at advancing into the Round of 16, Messi's goal was huge.
It was a gorgeous tally as well, coming as Messi streaked down the right side and took a pass from across the field.
That's beautiful touch by Messi and a fine shot to beat the keeper. The pressure was on him to finally score a goal and he did just that.
Argentina and Nigeria are battling on FOX, while Croatia and Iceland are playing on FS1.
We're sure to have some exciting action as Group D is decided today.
