We're two weeks away from the MLB trade deadline. Few people expect Orioles star Manny Machado to last in Baltimore for that long.
Baltimore will trade Machado. Their season is a disaster, and he isn't re-signing with them in free agency this winter. The only question is which team will be able to put together a good enough package for the standout infielder.
Many seem to think it will be the Philadelphia Phillies. The Milwaukee Brewers are also thought to be in the running, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are keeping tabs as well.
But what about the New York Yankees? Last week, they looked more likely to potentially deal for Machado than they do now, though they could always ink him as a free agent in the offseason.
Before tonight's All-Star festivities in Washington, D.C., Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman decided to have some fun. He posed for a photo with Machado and fellow Yankee All-Stars Gleyber Torres and Luis Severino and proceeded to post it on Instagram.
"You put the caption," Chapman wrote alongside the photo.
Chapman certainly won the Internet with this post, even if the Yankees are unlikely to win the Machado sweepstakes this month.
But if Machado somehow does wind up in pinstripes down the road, him in that lineup will be quite scary.
