The son of former Baylor head coach Art Briles might be close to landing his own head coaching position.

Kendal Briles, the former Baylor offensive coordinator who now has the same position at Houston, is reportedly a "strong candidate" at Texas State.

Texas State fired head coach Everett Withers earlier this season.

Football Scoop is reporting that there is a "strong chance" Briles lands the job.

Kendal Briles is a strong candidate to be the next head coach at Texas State, sources told FootballScoop on Monday.

News of Briles interviewing with the Bobcats was first reported Sunday, and we are told there is a strong chance Briles gets the job.
