Baker Mayfield's Quote About Being The Browns' Starting QB Is Going Viral

After a breathtaking debut against the Jets, the Baker Mayfield era is officially ready to begin. However, the first overall selection will have to erase decades of failure in Cleveland.

While the Browns have featured many talented players over the course of their existence, they've struggled to find a legitimate quarterback. Brandon Weeden, Johnny Manziel, and DeShone Kizer are just a few names that couldn't shine in Ohio.

It sounds hard to believe, but the Browns have started 29 quarterbacks before Mayfield, since 1999. When asked about becoming the 30th member to join the list, the former Oklahoma star said "It's 2018. Don't really care."

Regardless of all the busts at the quarterback position, Cleveland is ready for Mayfield to lift them out of mediocrity.

If his success from college carries over to the NFL, then the Browns made the right choice.

Mayfield threw for 201 yards in about one half of play against New York. Next up, he'll face Jon Gruden and the Raiders in Oakland.

As long as Mayfield continues his winning ways on the field, all the jokes about Cleveland's misery in the past will disappear.
