Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray just won the 2018 Heisman Trophy, but he won’t be playing college football next season. Murray has already committed to playing baseball for the Oakland A’s organization in 2019, though he is hinting at potentially taking a shot at the NFL as well.
Murray won’t repeat as the Heisman winner in 2019, but there still should be a strong crop of contenders. The top seven favorites for the award have been named by betting site 5Dimes.
It should come as no surprise that the overall favorite is the man who came in second in the voting this season, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Right behind him is Trevor Lawrence of Clemson and Georgia’s Jake Fromm, both of whom will be among the top passers in college football next year.
2019 Heisman ? odds
Tua Tagovailoa (QB Alabama) +300
Trevor Lawrence (QB Clemson) +450
Jake Fromm (QB Georgia) +650
Jonathan Taylor (RB Wisconsin) +700
Travis Etienne (RB Clemson) +775
D'Andre Swift (RB Georgia) +775

The Heisman Trophy has been an extremely QB-heavy award in recent years. Only one running back has taken home the prize in the last nine seasons, and that was Alabama’s Derrick Henry in 2015.
Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor might be the best bet of any non-QB to win the trophy next year, but even he faces an arduous task.
