Big East Wants Its Own Bowl For Conference Champion

Nobody wants to be left out of the big-bowl scene.

Joe Schad of ESPN.com is reporting that the Big East is now looking to create its own bowl which will feature the conference champion each year.

The Big East lost its automatic qualifier bid when the old BCS format was sent packing, and the conference doesn't currently have a tie-in with any of the big-name bowls. Rather than simply taking the chance that one of its teams will be selected, the Big East will look to create a bowl to guarantee its champion a marquee game.

Details are obviously still in the works, but the proposed bowl would likely take play in Florida beginning in 2014.
