Sunday, it was announced that Boise State senior quarterback Joe Southwick had been sent home from Hawaii (where the Broncos will play their bowl game against Oregon State) for what was deemed to be a "violation of team rules." While the school has stayed mum about what exactly that violation constituted, Southwick himself is now talking. He claims he's been accused, falsely, of urinating off of a balcony. He also claims he's taken and passed a lie detector test regarding the alleged incident. Here's what he told KTVB:
The Broncos are scheduled to take on the Beavers Tuesday night, so unless Southwick is able to prove his innocence by then, it looks like they'll be starting backup quarterback Grant Hedrick in his place. Needless to say, this would be a tough way for Southwick's career to end.
