Boston Red Sox DH Eduardo Nunez Injures Leg In 1st ALDS At-Bat, Has To Be Carried Off Field

Eduardo Nunez carried off the field after injury.

A brutal start of the playoffs for the Red Sox.

Boston Red Sox utility man Eduardo Nunez isn't the team's usual starting designated hitter, but he was in the lineup for today's ALDS Game 1 against the Houston Astros.

Hitting second, Nunez was inserted in place of Hanley Ramirez, Boston's primary DH. The reason for this? Nunez has hit Houston starter Justin Verlander well in his career.

Unfortunately, Nunez will only have one chance to face Verlander. In his first at-bat, with one out in the top of the first, Nunez bounced a ball to third base and was thrown out.

He only made it about halfway down the line before collapsing in a heap. Nunez, who wears a brace on his right knee, had to be carried off the field.

Nunez appeared to be in great pain as he left the field.

We'll update you on his status, but it didn't look good.
