Over the weekend, former NFL cornerback Brandon Browner was arrested after a police chase in California. Initial reports indicated that Browner was facing charges such as kidnapping, false imprisonment, burglary, grand theft auto and violation of restraining order.
The latest report, courtesy of TMZ, states that it is even more serious than that. Browner was also charged with attempted murder and could face life in prison.
Browner’s bail has been set at $10 million.
Officials say Browner broke into his former GF’s apartment in La Verne, CA on July 8 and allegedly chased the victim, dragged her and then smothered her in a carpet.
Her two children were present when the alleged abuse occurred.
Browner is accused of stealing the victim’s Rolex watch. He fled the residence but was later arrested.
The 33-year-old Browner has been in trouble with the law before, including an arrest for cocaine possession in 2017 and another for battery and cruelty to a child this year.
Browner played in the NFL in 2005-06 with the Denver Broncos and 2011-16 with the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots and New Orleans. He also played in the CFL from 2007-10.
Browner made the Pro Bowl in 2011 and won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks and Patriots.
