The Braves Are Reportedly Considering A Huge MLB Trade
The Braves have been relatively quiet on the trade front this month, but as this week's MLB Trade Deadline approaches, Atlanta, which is in line for a postseason berth, could be on the verge of making a major move.
The Rangers and the Braves have reportedly been discussing a huge deal that would send four-time All-Star third baseman Adrian Beltre to Atlanta.
Beltre, 39, is hitting .292 this season with 5 home runs and 33 RBI. He's not quite the All-Star player he used to be, but the five-time Gold Glove winner could still provide a major boost for a team looking to make the playoffs.
MLB insider Joel Sherman reported that three Rangers scouts were watching a top Braves prospect today.
"Hear 3 Rangers scouts showed up in Scranton today to see Braves prospect Luiz Gohara. Atl has some interest in Adrian Beltre, but especially bullpen like Kela, Diekman," he reports.
The Braves might not just be interested in Beltre, though. Atlanta could be looking to upgrade its bullpen.
The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal confirmed the news.
"Hearing same," he tweeted. "Per sources, the interest is in potentially both Kela and Diekman. Braves willing to move Gohara."
The Braves are currently 54-47 and in second place in the NL East. They're 1.5 games out of the Wild Card heading into today.
The MLB Trade Deadline is set for Tuesday at 4 p.m. E.T. Stay tuned.
