A Milwaukee Brewers minor league team pulled off an incredible 'hidden ball trick' earlier this week.
In seemingly every baseball movie intended for kids, the 'hidden ball trick' is used to perfection. Earlier in the week, it was used by a real team - the Carolina Mudcats - to perfection as well.
Mudcats third baseman Lucas Ercig, after a double steal executed by two players on the Buies Creek Astros, faked a throw back to the pitcher, hoping to fool runner Kyle Tucker. It took some time, but Tucker finally left the bag. He was prompty tagged out by Ercig.
The umpires initially ruled Tucker safe, but later huddled together to reverse the call. Check it out:
Carolina won the game, 3-0, so it actually wound up being a big play. Not something you see every day.
