Britt McHenry Defends Philadelphia TV Reporter After Viral Tirade Against Police Officer

Former ESPN employee Britt McHenry is no stranger to viral video infamy. This week, she came to the defense of another woman who was caught in a similar situation.

Colleen Campbell, a former reporter at PHL17 in Philadelphia, was caught in an incredibly unflattering video, when she cursed out and kicked a police officer after being asked to leave a local comedy club.

From The Inquirer:

After Campbell spent two minutes throwing out relentless profanity and insults, the patient officer finally handcuffs and arrests her after she appears to spit on a manager and attempts to shove her shoe in his face.

“That’s why everyone hates you guys!” the handcuffed reporter yells in the officer’s face. “That’s why society hates you!”

She continues to insult the officer before letting him know that she worked at PHL17, which described her as a news production employee.

“I work at a f— news station, motherf—. I work at PHL 17!” Campbell yells. “I’m not a f— hood rat.”

Campbell, who was fired following the incident, says her memory of going to the Comedy Club is "foggy," and has stated that she may have been drugged ahead of the incident.

While she has not found a lot of support online after the video went viral, she has one notable defender in Britt McHenry.

McHenry, who was one of the many laid off by ESPN earlier this year, had a very similar incident in 2015, when she was caught berating a parking lot attendant. She was suspended after the video made the rounds online.

On Wednesday, McHenry took to Facebook to defend Campbell to friends that she saw circulating the video.

We're sure Campbell appreciates the kind words, after what has been a very tough few words.
