Chris Broussard: Person Close To Kawhi Leonard Denies Star Hid From Spurs

Kawhi Leonard speaks at Spurs press conference.

Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs are currently on the outs. That's why the franchise has been exploring trading the 27-year-old star.

Leonard missed almost all of last season with a quad injury that wound up being quite mysterious. Even though his camp was reportedly given control of his rehab last August, Leonard still only played in nine games.

A new report surfaced this week saying that Leonard's group intentionally hid him from Spurs' front office members in New York City.

However, it looks like Leonard is denying that took place, according to FS1's Chris Broussard.

Broussard cites a source close to Leonard who says he was not kept away from San Antonio personnel.

This whole saga indicates how strained the relationship is between Leonard and the Spurs. Things aren't in a good place right now.

However, because San Antonio can afford to be patient in trading Leonard, they can wait until training camp before making a move. That gives them time to potentially repair the relationship.

So far, none of the teams in contention for Leonard have blown San Antonio away with a trade offer. If that happens, then Kawhi will likely be dealt.
