ESPN announced its celebrity guest picker for today's College GameDay show on Friday night. The pick: star MLB outfielder Bryce Harper.

Some were puzzled by the pick, as Harper is a Las Vegas native who skipped college straight for the MLB, but he has a very big connection to Ohio State - his wife, Kayla Harper, played soccer for the Buckeyes.

Harper is excited to be back in Columbus, Ohio.

"How Fir(m) Thy Friendship! Can’t wait for @CollegeGameDay to(m)orrow! #Celebritypicker," he tweeted.

Harper's wife, Kayla Harper, is excited to be back at her school, too. Kayla Harper, who played soccer for Ohio State, tweeted that she was "home."

Bryce and Kayla had been dating for several years before getting married a little more than a year ago.

Kayla seemed to really enjoy her time with the Buckeyes, playing for the Ohio State women's soccer team.

Bryce Harper seems to have taken up Ohio State as his college football team, as the Washington Nationals' star didn't attend college.

Harper has often tweeted his support for Urban Meyer and Co.

It's a big winter for Bryce and Kayla, as the MLB star will be deciding on his future in free agency. There are several teams interested in the All-Star outfielder.

For now, though, Bryce and Kayla will be enjoying some college football. ESPN's College GameDay will air from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. E.T.

Ohio State and Michigan are set to kick off at noon E.T. The game will be on FOX.
