The First Responder Bowl has taken to Twitter to issue a message to the fans who attended today's game.

This afternoon's contest between Boise State and Boston College was canceled due to weather. There will be no makeup game.

Full refunds will be issued to fans who attended the game, at least.

"Due to the cancellation of this year’s SERVPRO First Responder Bowl, ticket holders will have the option of a full game ticket refund OR tickets to next year’s game at no cost, with two additional tickets offered per order. Email," the bowl announced.

Boston College was leading Boise State, 7-0, at the time of the cancelation.

There were a little more than 5 minutes remaining in the first quarter when the contest was called.

An ESPN spokesman issued the following statement on the game:

"In the interest of safety for our teams and fans, the 2018 SERVPRO First Responder Bowl was unable to be continued. The decision was made after lengthy consultation with emergency personnel, both universities, ESPN and Cotton Bowl Stadium staff."

The game was officially ruled a "no contest."
