Summer League Photo Sparks New Carmelo Anthony Rumors

Carmelo Anthony remains a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, but that likely won't be the case for much longer. The Thunder and the former All-Star forward are reportedly working on a potential buyout or stretching of a contract.

Several NBA teams have been mentioned as potential destinations for the former Syracuse star, with the Lakers and the Rockets getting the most love so far. Anthony is close friends with LeBron James and Chris Paul, so this makes sense.

Anthony is also close friends with Dwyane Wade. The Heat haven't received a ton of attention right now when it comes to Anthony, but a new Summer League photo sparked some rumors.

The Thunder's GM, Sam Presti, was spotted talking with the Heat's Pat Riley and Erik Spoelstra.

It's tough to imagine a trade happening between these two teams - unless the Thunder are willing to take on Hassan Whiteside and his big contract - but Miami could be a nice option for Anthony if his contract is bought out. Tim Reynolds, an AP writer based in South Florida, says he could see Anthony playing for the Heat in 2018-19.

Another South Florida-based writer, Barry Jackson, thinks a trade is unlikely.

The Heat have been mentioned as an option for Anthony in previous years. Miami's strength and conditioning staff could help elongate the remainder of his career.
