Last night, reports were circulating that LeBron James wants Carmelo Anthony to join the Los Angeles Lakers. Well, it appears those plans won’t be coming into fruition anytime soon.
Anthony struggled mightily to fit in with the Houston Rockets, as he shot just 40.5 percent from the field and was unable to provide any impact on defense. Unfortunately for the former All-Star forward, the Lakers aren’t sold on bringing him into the fold.
Even though James reportedly wants Los Angeles to add Anthony, the team doesn’t have any interest in acquiring the veteran scorer, per Brad Turner. It’s also interesting to note that apparently James hasn’t reached out to his front office about the potential move.
Lakers have no interest in acquiring Carmelo Anthony, per sources. Sources said people want to attach players to Lakers now. Sources said Melo people called Lakers a while back and that LeBron hasn’t talked to Lakers prez Magic Johnson/Rob Pelinka about getting Melo.

It’s hard to determine where Anthony would fit on the Lakers’ offense. With Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma already providing scoring on the wing, it’s difficult to envision him accepting an extremely diminished role.
Perhaps Los Angeles thinks that Anthony’s style of play would possibly slow down its fast-paced offense.
Either way, the former scoring champion might have to wait even longer for another opportunity.
