Carmelo Anthony is either going to be traded or wind up being a free agent this summer, and at this point, there doesn't seem to be any kind of indication regarding where he might wind up. The Houston Rockets have reportedly expressed interest, but it's unclear if he wants to team up with Chris Paul, James Harden & Co.

Anthony, according to a new report from Yahoo's Jordan Schultz, has "preferred destinations" and the Los Angeles Lakers are one of them. It doesn't come as a huge surprise - if he headed to Los Angeles, he could team up with LeBron James, finally.

Anthony could wind up in Los Angeles either via trade or free agency. If the Thunder were able to trade Anthony for Luol Deng and a draft pick, it might make sense. The other option is for Oklahoma City to either buy out or stretch Anthony's contract and open him up for free agency.

Anthony, who is now 34 years old, is going to need to accept a lesser role if he wants to head to a contender - like the Lakers or the Rockets. In Oklahoma City, he was unwilling to do that.

The Miami Heat have also been mentioned as a possible destination for Anthony.

Wherever Anthony plays next season - it won't be for Oklahoma City. We'll keep you updated.
