According to a report from ESPN's Jeff Goodman, new Louisville head coach Chris Mack is targeting a former head coach to join his staff this coming season.
Chris Mack is "working on securing" former Wake Forest head coach Dino Gaudio to join his staff as an assistant coach, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. Gaudio hasn't coached since 2010, but according to Goodman, he knows Mack's "philosophy."
Gaudio has been a head coach three times - at Army, Loyola Maryland and Wake Forest. His most recent stint, with the Demon Deacons, ended after a 61-31 record in three seasons. He led the program to two NCAA Tournament appearances.
The two were both assistants at Xavier back from 2000-2001. They also worked together at Wake Forest from 2001-2004.
Mack took the head coaching job at Xavier in 2009 and led the Musketeers to NCAA Tournament appearances in eight of his nine years on campus. He finished with an impressive 215-97 record with the program.
Mack issued a heartfelt thank you to Xavier fans earlier in the week.
Gaudio, since 2010, has been working at ESPN as an analyst.
