It's been an eventful week for former Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg. Just six days ago, Hackenberg, who was drafted by the New York Jets back in 2016, was informed that he'd been traded to the Oakland Raiders for a conditional seventh-round pick. Sunday, he himself had big news to announce.
Hackenberg revealed on Instagram that he'd proposed to girlfriend Tatum Coffey. She said yes, and the two are now engaged to be married. The two appear to have been dating for a few years at least.
Both Hackenberg and Coffey posted photos and videos of the moment. It's unclear exactly how Hackenberg chose to ask for her hand, but it appears to have taken place on a beach. Pretty cool.
Coffey was an aspiring sportscaster, and she was a sideline reporter for BTN in college. She now lists her job as an Allergan Pharma representative. It'll be interesting to see how her career unfolds if Hackenberg solidifies his job with the Raiders this coming season.
Hackenberg, after a successful career at Penn State, was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Through two seasons, however, he has yet to see the field. Perhaps that will change in Oakland.
Congrats to the newly engaged couple.
