Clint Capela is arguably the biggest free agent remaining in the NBA's 2018 offseason. The Houston Rockets big man is a restricted free agent and it doesn't appear that he's received any sizable offer sheets from other teams.
The 24-year-old big man is looking for a big-time deal, something in the range of four years and $80 to $100 million, per reports.
The Rockets are able to slow-play this until another NBA team presents him with an offer sheet and, at this point, it doesn't seem like this is going to happen.
So, Capela might have to wait a while until signing a big contract. That day will probably come, though.
Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey commented today on the status of Capela and his free agency. He's optimistic something will get done.
“We can say [the negotiations with Clint] are going back-and-forth. Clint is going to be wealthy guy no matter what happens at the end of all of this. We’re looking forward to getting him back on the Rockets," Morey said on an interview with Space City Scoop.
Capela, 24, averaged nearly 14 points and 11 rebounds a game for the Rockets in 2017-18. He was a big part of Houston's run to the Western Conference Finals and the No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs.
