Although it's still early in the college basketball season, the Kentucky Wildcats desperately needed a victory over an elite opponent. Well, they definitely got what they were looking for yesterday, as they defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels in the CBS Sports Classic.

The main reason behind the victory was the Wildcats' ability to share the basketball. Between the team's 24 assists and ferocious defense against the Tar Heels, head coach John Calipari was more than content with this performance.

However, the legendary coach wants to make sure his team continues to play with the same intensity. In an effort to motivate his crew, Calipari sent a group message that contains inspiring comments.

Here is the full message:

If Kentucky wants to prove itself as one of the true contenders in college hoops this season, then earning more victories of this caliber will be huge. Luckily for the prestigious program, another opportunity awaits them.

Next up for the Wildcats is a rivalry matchup against Louisville on Dec. 29.

It'll be interesting to see if Calipari's message resonated with his team.
