A Tennis Player Refused To Take The Court Until She Got Her Banana

Coco VanDeWeghe gazes upward.

The American tennis player refused to take the court at the Australian Open.

Sunday was a rough day for CoCo Vandeweghe at the Australian Open. The 26-year-old American lost in the first round and had a couple of meltdown-y moments.

First, Vandeweghe, a New York native, refused to take the court until she got her banana. "I'm waiting for the bananas," she explained to the umpire. "How are they not on the court? That's not my fault."

This went on for a couple of minutes.

"Why do I have to play under a different set of rules?" she asked. "I don't have to make myself uncomfortable because (the court) is ill-prepared."

Vandeweghe got a code violation for time violation/civil disobedience.

She had another rough moment later in the match, too, when she said "Oh f--k off you f--king b---h" at her opponent, Timea Babos of Hungary.

Vandeweghe lost the match in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.

Videos of the incidents can be watched below:

Vandeweghe is ranked the No. 9 player in the world.

It was a rough day overall for American women at the Australian Open. The American contingent started the tournament 0-8.
