A college football band member was killed in a car accident that injured two other members, the school announced today.

Nebraska announced following its game against Bethune-Cookman this afternoon that Tyler Butterfield, a 20-year-old marching band member, was killed in a car crash in Lincoln on Friday night.

"UNL confirms 20-year-old Tyler Butterfield, a Cornhusker marching band member and junior accounting major, was killed in a crash last night in Lincoln. LPD says he was a passenger in a car that was turning out onto 10th street when they were hit by a Dodge Charger," Sarah Fili tweeted.

Our thoughts are with Tyler's family and friends.

Rest in peace, Tyler.
