USC's football program announced a somewhat surprising decision today, revealing that head coach Clay Helton will return in 2019.

The decision is a controversial one, with many arguing that it's the right call, claiming that Helton deserves at least one more season.

Others, meanwhile, believe USC's fans have made up their mind and that the program needs to just move on.

College football insider Stewart Mandel falls into the latter category.

"I don’t think anything Swann said is wrong. Helton did have “one bad season.” ND/Kelly did come back from theirs. But USC fans have made up their mind. They’re done with him. There’s no winning then back. That stadium will be empty Week 1 next year," he tweeted.

Winning can cure a lot of things, though. If USC can find its way back to national prominence in 2019, the fans will eventually start showing up.
