The Cowboys are reportedly continuing to consider a major NFL trade as we head into the third week of the 2018 regular season. Here is the latest on Dallas and the major move that the franchise is attempting to make.

Seahawks' defensive back Earl Thomas has long been a target for the Cowboys. Jerry Jones' team was rumored to have offered a second-round pick for the star safety earlier this offseason, though the offer was rejected by Seattle.

The Cowboys and the Seahawks are meeting today and it appears that an Earl Thomas trade is still something Jason Garrett's team would like to accomplish.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys are hoping to get Earl Thomas trade talks going again with the Seahawks.

Seattle, though, reportedly remains hesitant to make a deal. The Cowboys' offer would have to be incredible.

"The Cowboys and Seahawks haven’t spoken about Earl Thomas since before he return. Some in the Cowboys organization hope to restart talks today. Seattle would have to be blown away to even consider it," he reports.

From the NFL Network:

While the two sides have not spoken since before Thomas reported to the Seahawks to begin the season, there are several people inside the Cowboys organization who hope Sunday's game will serve as the impetus to begin conversations again.

The Dallas contingent arrived in Seattle with open ears about that possibility. History has shown there might be reason, at least, for them to have hope.

Last year, the Seahawks traded for left tackle Duane Brown right after playing his old team, the Texans. This time, the Cowboys could trade for Thomas right after playing Seattle. Former Seahawks defensive coordinator Kris Richard has called plays for the Dallas defense this year and he's a huge Thomas fan.

The Cowboys have long hoped to add the kind of playmaker in the secondary that Thomas is. The Seahawks' star defensive back is a Texas native and has previously admitted that he's thought about playing for Dallas.

It might take a first-round pick for the Cowboys to get a deal done, though, and it doesn't seem like that's an offer that Dallas is willing to make.

The Cowboys and the Seahawks are set to kick off at 4:25 p.m. E.T. today. The game will be on FOX.
