Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones issued a major injury update for his team heading into Thursday night's game against the New Orleans Saints.

The Cowboys were without their starting left tackle, Tyron Smith, during this past Thursday's win over the Washington Redskins. Smith, one of the top offensive linemen in the NFL, was a game-time decision for that contest and ended up spending the game on the sideline.

Jones announced this morning that Smith will probably be a game-time decision once again.

The Cowboys owner said on his radio show this morning that Dallas could be without its starting left tackle against the New Orleans Saints.

The Cowboys' offensive line played well against the Redskins in Smith's absence on Thanksgiving, but losing him for any kind of extended period would be a big loss for Dallas. New Orleans is arguably the best team in the NFL and the Cowboys probably need to be at full-strength to feel good about their chances for a victory.

247Sports had the details on Smith's injuries and status:

When Tyron Smith suffered what was described as a stinger ahead of their Week 12 battle with the Washington Redskins, the All-Pro left tackle didn't require X-rays and told the media he was "fine". The last Cowboys' All-Pro to say this in a similar context was Travis Frederick, who dealt with an onset of stingers before declaring himself "fine", but ultimately landing on injured reserve as he deals with the rare autoimmune disorder known as Guillain-Barre syndrome. Thankfully for Smith and the Cowboys, there isn't anything even remotely as concerning on the horizon for the left tackle, but he is most certainly not "fine".

Smith wasn't listed as inactive on Thanksgiving when the Cowboys hosted the Washington Redskins to determine who left with the top spot in the NFC East, but when the game kicked off, he was on the sideline without a helmet on -- ruled out before the game clock had even started. He's since missed practice on both Sunday and Monday with both the stinger and an elbow injury that's now surfaced, making it doubtful you'll see him take the field against the New Orleans Saints on Thursday Night Football.

The Cowboys and the Saints are set to meet on Thursday night in Dallas. Kickoff is set for 8:20 p.m. E.T. on FOX.
