DeMar DeRozan Claims Raptors "Lied" To Him About Potential Trade

DeMar DeRozan warms up for the Raptors.

For the first nine seasons of his NBA career, DeMar DeRozan was a Toronto Raptor. Now, he's been traded to the San Antonio Spurs.

Considering DeRozan's loyalty to the organization and his reaction to the trade on social media, it stands to reason he wanted to be a Raptor his entire career. It is understandable that he is upset about being moved.

But DeRozan's feelings seem to go beyond disappointment and hurt. He appears to be angry at his former team and is claiming he was lied to regarding a potential trade.

In ESPN's report of the trade, sources close to DeRozan say the Raptors told the All-Star guard recently that he wouldn't be traded.

Sources close to DeRozan told ESPN’s Chris Haynes that DeRozan met with Toronto brass in Las Vegas during summer league and was told he would not be traded.

TNT's David Aldridge confirmed DeRozan's feelings on Twitter this morning.

Toronto did what it had to do here, making the move it felt was best for the team. Still, you have to feel for DeRozan if he truly didn't think he was being dealt anywhere.
