Trade Rumors Are Swirling For 1 NBA All-Star Guard

DeMar DeRozan warms up for the Raptors.

There's already been a ton of player movement in the NBA this offseason, with several of the league's star players - LeBron James, DeMarcus Cousins - deciding to play for a new team in 2018-19. More moves are surely on the way, too.

Kawhi Leonard is probably the biggest name on the market, as the Spurs star has reportedly demanded a trade out of San Antonio, but there's another sizable name that could be on the move: DeMar DeRozan.

The Toronto Raptors are in a weird place. They fired their head coach and the GM says every player on the roster is available. But it's unclear what the team's All-Star guards, DeRozan and Kyle Lowry, would fetch in a trade.

DeRozan, based on his age and contract, is likely the more movable player. And trade rumors are beginning to swirl.

The All-Star shooting guard posted the following message on Instagram today after deleting all of his pictures. Check it out:

OK then. That probably doesn't mean anything, but it's only going to fuel the DeMar DeRozan rumors at this point.

DeRozan has been mentioned as a possible trade piece for Kawhi. The Raptors are considered by some to be a dark-horse contender to land the Spurs star.

From ESPN.com:

The most logical all-in play on the board is Toronto offering DeRozan, one of Pascal Siakam, Delon Wright, Jakob Poeltl, and OG Anunoby, and a future first-round pick. Upgrade from DeRozan to Leonard, and the Drakes have a real shot to make the NBA Finals. Maybe Leonard would love Toronto, and enjoy playing in May and June in front of that nutty crowd.

If Leonard walks, the damage isn't so severe. After this season, DeRozan will either opt in to $27.7 million or enter free agency seeking a mega-contract as he turns 30. But DeRozan is really good, Leonard is a huge flight risk, and my hunch is the Spurs would demand too much future stuff for Toronto's taste (if the it has any interest in the first place).

A DeRozan-Kawhi swap would be a lot of fun. It's unclear if Kawhi would consider re-signing in Toronto, but might be a risk the Raptors are willing to take.
