Dick Vitale Says Louisville's Players Are Meeting With Chris Mack Today

The next head coach of Louisville's men's basketball program will be Xavier's Chris Mack. That's what Dick Vitale is reporting, anyway.

The ESPN college basketball analyst says Mack will be the next head coach of the Cardinals. A team meeting is happening later today.

Vitale says that a 2:45 p.m. meeting between the players and Mack has been scheduled.

A Louisville reporter, though, says that Mack is not currently on Louisville's campus. He also says that Mack will not be there later today.

Multiple reports say that the deal is very close and will almost surely happen.

Jon Rothstein reported earlier today that barring something unforeseen, Mack will be Louisville's next head coach. An official announcement could come as early as tomorrow.

"The Louisville Cardinals and current Xavier Musketeers head basketball coach Chris Mack remain in the midst of contract negotiations, multiple sources have informed FanRag Sports. Barring something unforeseen, Mack will become the ACC program’s next head coach.

An official announcement is expected soon," Rothstein reports.

Vitale, meanwhile, says a press conference will happen tomorrow.

Stay tuned.
