Dirk Nowitzki Sends A Message To His New Rookie, Luka Doncic

The Dallas Mavericks drafted the future of their franchise tonight. Mark Cuban's team traded up into the No. 3 slot to take European star Luka Doncic.

Doncic, a 19-year-old prodigy from Slovenia, has been ranked by some as the best prospect in the draft. Many believe he's the most-accomplished European prospect ever.

The Mavericks have obviously had some major success with a European prospect before, as they were led to an NBA championship by Dirk Nowitzki.

Nowitzki tweeted a message for his new teammate shortly after he was taken.

"Welcome my man," he tweeted.

Mavericks fans are going to love watching these two next season.

Doncic said he wasn't that surprised by the trade to get him, as Dallas has been very interested in him.

"I’ve been talking to dallas a lot. They really wanted me. They were very nice," he told reporters.

Now, Mavericks fans have two European stars to watch in 2018-19.
