Drew Brees Posts A Cool Photo Following His Surgery

After getting a second opinion on his thumb injury, Drew Brees underwent surgery to repair torn ligaments. Now, the 40-year-old quarterback can officially begin his journey back to the field.

It was an unfortunate blow for the New Orleans Saints on Sunday when Brees went down. Over the past decade, he’s been the franchise’s most productive players.

With Brees out for at least six weeks, the Saints will rely on Taysom Hill and Teddy Bridgewater. Head coach Sean Payton still hasn’t announced which quarterback will start this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks.

As for Brees, he gave his followers an update on his surgery. He seems to be in good spirits.

Brees posted a photo on Instagram with the caption: “Step 1 Complete…successful surgery. This is my attempt at giving everybody a thumbs up.”

Earlier today, the future Hall of Famer shared a heartwarming picture with his wife, Brittany.

Overcoming adversity has been a staple in Brees’ NFL career. Prior to his legendary tenure with the Saints, the former second-round pick suffered a shoulder injury with the Chargers that could have ended his career.

If New Orleans can remain in the playoff hunt while Brees recovers from this injury, he could return and potentially lead the franchise to the postseason for the third-straight season.
