Here’s How ESPN’s Matchup Predictor Sees This Week’s Big Ten Games Playing Out

With a full slate of Big Ten games coming up this weekend, let's take a look at the favorites and underdogs using ESPN's FPI calculation.

Predicting the outcome of games is an imperfect science; there are so many variables to take into account that it can often be overwhelming. Luckily for us, the good folks over at ESPN have done all the hard work, calculating a team's win likelihood into a single, clean percent figure, using FPI.

According to ESPN:

The Football Power Index (FPI) is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team's performance going forward for the rest of the season. FPI represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily.
