ESPN employees have reacted publicly to the news of John Skipper's resignation.

The sports media world was shocked this morning when ESPN announced that its president, John Skipper, was resigning.

The Worldwide Leader's president was honest in his resignation statement, citing substance abuse.

"I have struggled for many years with a substance addiction. I have decided that the most important thing I can do right now is to take care of my problem," Skipper, 61, said in a statement. He had been with the company since 1997. George Bodenheimer will be serving as the interim leader.

Some ESPN employees have taken to Twitter to react.

Dan Le Batard broke down in tears while speaking on the air about the news.
