ESPN Is Getting Absolutely Destroyed For Its Newest Hire

ESPN logo.

ESPN has made a new TV hire. The hire is an addition to the network's Monday Night Football broadcast, which is getting an overhaul with both its announcer and its analyst.

The Worldwide Leader is reportedly hiring former NFL referee Jeff Triplette, who will serve as a rules/referee expert during the Monday Night Football telecast.

The hire, almost unanimously, is getting criticized heavily.

"Triplette, who retired after last season, was not only a brutal referee, but he couldn't form coherent sentences. Yet, someone at ESPN thought, "WE MUST HIRE THIS MAN!" It's a truly mind-boggling move on every level.

Full disclosure: Sources have told SI.com that Triplette's role will be more behind the scenes to support the Monday Night Football crew, but he will be on air when necessary," writes SI.com.

Football Zebras first reported the news.

Welp. Perhaps Triplette will end up proving everyone wrong.
