The market for NFL running backs hasn't been very lucrative in recent years, as most-recently shown with Le'Veon Bell and the Pittsburgh Steelers, who didn't give in to the All-Pro tailback's contract demands.
A new development is promising, though. Los Angeles Rams' star running back Todd Gurley has reportedly finalized a new contract extension.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has the details.
"Rams and RB Todd Gurley finalizing agreement on a 4-year extension worth $60 million that includes $45 million guaranteed that ties him to LA for the next six seasons, source tells ESPN. Finally a deal that resets the RB market," he reports.
Gurley, 23, rushed for more than 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns during the 2017 season. He was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
The Rams are going to be a popular NFC champion pick in 2018. Few teams have more young talent than the Los Angeles team.
An official statement on Gurley's signing should be out later today.
