The College Football Playoff chase continues to take shape as we move into late October. We're a little less than a week from the unveiling of the first rankings.

Right now, three teams are in great shape because they are undefeated. Those squads are Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame.

Beyond that trio, things are a little murkier but there are several teams hanging around in the playoff race.

According to ESPN's Playoff Predictor, there are eight teams with a greater than 10 percent chance of making the playoff.

They are as follows:

  • Clemson - 89 percent
  • Alabama - 85 percent
  • Notre Dame - 66 percent
  • Michigan - 41 percent
  • Georgia - 30 percent
  • Oklahoma - 30 percent
  • Ohio State - 25 percent
  • LSU - 14 percent

We will get more playoff clarity in November. LSU will play Alabama and Michigan has to take on Ohio State.

The first playoff rankings will be unveiled on October 30.
