ESPN's Jon 'Stugotz' Weiner Addresses Tragedy In His Hometown

Stugotz on Le Batard Show.

Jon "Stugotz" Weiner, the co-host of The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, lives within walking distance of Stoneman Douglas High School. A gunman killed 17 people and injured several others at the Parkland, Fla. school on Wednesday afternoon.

The area - and the entire country - is hurting today. Weiner joined ESPN's Golic & Wingo this morning to talk about his community.

"You never thinks it's going to happen to your hometown, your school...and then it does," Weiner said. "Some of the acts of kindness I saw yesterday...we're OK with someone cutting us off, we're OK with someone parking in the middle of the road, we're OK getting out of our car on our own to help a kid looking for his parents."

"I wish the way people acted yesterday is the way people will act moving forward."

Weiner's family was thankfully not affected by the shooting, but he knows many that were. He and everyone in the community are trying everything they can to help people heal and move forward.

Weiner also took to Twitter late on Wednesday to express his grief.

"I live walking distance from Stoneman Douglas HS. My hometown of Parkland & many of our friends are hurting tonight. Our hearts go out to everyone. What should not be forgotten are the incredible acts of kindness I witnessed that make me incredibly proud to say I live here," he wrote.

A GoFundMe has been set up for all of the victims. You can help donate below. More than $280K has already been donated.
