Former MLB Pitcher Starts Huge Bench-Clearing Brawl In Independent League Game

Former MLB pitcher Mat Latos slams an opponent during a brawl.

Just a few years ago, Mat Latos put together back-to-back 14-win seasons at the major league level. Now, he's igniting brawls in Independent ball.

Latos, who has spent parts of nine seasons in the majors, most recently with Toronto in 2017, is currently a pitcher for the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League. He's still making headlines.

According to MyCentralJersey's Mike Ashmore, things got started last night when a Rockland Boulders player trucked Jackals catcher Kevin Torres on a play at the plate. The benches emptied after that happened.

Things calmed down, but Latos decided to seek some payback when he took the mound. After two inside pitches, the benches cleared again.

Check out Latos below. He was ready to take on the batter charging the mound but he saw another player sprinting out of the dugout to get to him.

Latos body-slammed the second guy.

That is a pretty savage move.

Latos owns a 71-59 career MLB record with a 3.64 ERA. He won 14 games in a season three times--2010, 2012 and 2013.
