We see consensus early-season Heisman favorites fall off every so often. It may be hard for anyone to catch Jalen Hurts this season though, with the power of the Oklahoma offense helping him.
Right now, it is hard to find anyone that doesn’t have the former Alabama quarterback at No. 1.
FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt is no different. On Tuesday, he updated his Heisman list, after the Week 6 action.
The rest of his list may be a bit different than some, though. He has LSU’s Joe Burrow, who is having a huge breakout season, in at No. 2, and Wisconsin’s prolific running back Jonathan Taylor third on his list.
Tagovailoa, who comes in at second on a lot of these lists, is down at No. 4, followed by Ohio State’s Justin Fields. Some of these guys will probably come back to the pack as we get into the heart of conference play, but it is a very strong list of players here.
My Top 10 Heisman rankings after week 6
1) Jalen Hurts
2) Joe Burrow
3) Jonathan Taylor
4) Tua Tagovailoa
5) Justin Fields
6) Sam Ehlinger
7) Chase Young
8) Jake Fromm
9) Chuba Hubbard
10) JK Dobbins

Ohio State should feel good here, with three players making Klatt’s Top 10. JK Dobbins is one of the most dynamic running backs in the country, and Chase Young is a potential No. 1 pick, and the most dominant defensive player in the country.
ESPN’s Heisman Watch has the same top six players, though Tagovailoa is up at No. 2, followed by Burrow and Taylor.
This weekend pits Hurts against Sam Ehlinger and Texas, as if we needed more reason to get excited for the Red River Showdown.
