Since 1999, the Browns have gone through 28 starting quarterbacks and once again, the franchise proved they are willing to take a risk on a signal-caller. On Thursday, Cleveland selected Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 pick.
While Browns fans were divided on the decision – you know who didn’t have a problem with Mayfield being taken with the top pick? Lincoln Riley.
His coach at Oklahoma showed his approval with a simple two-character tweet.

Meanwhile, Riley could have been a huge reason why Mayfield had the edge over the other QB prospects.
While evaluating Mayfield and all the Oklahoma talent, NFL evaluators thoroughly praised the creativity of Head Coach/Play Caller Lincoln Riley. Oklahoma has become one of the top destinations for NFL coaches to learn from. Nearly all 32 teams have come through Norman to learn.

Mayfield, of course, was a two-time walk-on at Texas Tech and Oklahoma. Mayfield had to beat out Sooners quarterback Trevor Knight to win the job back in 2015 and never looked back.
Oklahoma’s had an incredible week as a program. The Sooners currently have the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the country. They also now have the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
