Iran's Game-Tying Goal vs. Spain Waived Off By Offsides Call

iran's goal vs. spain waived off by referee

Iran and Spain have, somewhat surprisingly, provided us with one of the best games of the 2018 World Cup so far. Both countries have played exciting football through the first 60-plus minutes of today's game.

It's gotten incredibly exciting over the last couple of minutes. Spain scored a goal to go up, 1-0. The country is in big need of a win to get to 3 points after tying its first game against Portugal.

Iran is fighting back, though. And it looked like Iran had just struck even.

The Iranian team scored a goal with a little less than 30 minutes to play. The team was going crazy.

Unfortunately, the goal was called off. The referee made an offsides call.

Video review confirmed that the call was correct. You can see it below:

Dang. That's tough.

Iran still has some time to even this thing up. The country trails, 1-0, with a little more than 20 minutes to play in this afternoon's contest.

The game is being televised on FOX. You're going to want to check in for the final minutes.
